Mastery Cores are designed to have 4 Cores in total, so we will provide a combat experience that is gradually being completed over the course of future updates.įinally, given the significant changes to combat in this update, we expect that it will take a considerable amount of time and discussion for players to learn, get used to, and gather meaningful statistics from the new battle patterns. However, we’ve designed the values so that the difference in performance between classes due to Mastery Cores doesn’t get too big during the update process, and we’ll continue to make additional adjustments to reduce this variance after more Cores are added. So we were careful when selecting Enhancement Skills and update order to make sure there were no major changes in the way that existing skills are used.Īs a result of adding Cores one by one, there may be some empirical variation between classes. On the other hand, while making changes to the combat experience with Mastery Cores, we avoided drastically changing any existing combat patterns as much as possible. So, with these Mastery Cores, we tried to raise the overall combat experience to a higher level by changing these skills which are used all of the time but have not had any visual/performance changes in a while. Since all existing 4th job and lower skills were only numerically enhanced in the 5th job advancement, they provided the same combat experience for a very long time. Lastly, with a relatively long 360 second skill usage cycle, their basic combat performance and cutscenes were designed to be different from existing skills, and to give a newfound sense of excitement when using them. How players utilize this feature will make a big difference in the outcome of battles. All Origin Skills also have a built-in ‘Absolute Bind’ feature that can bind enemies that resist regular binds, and has a separate resistance time from existing bind skills. When you’re fighting together with party members, Origin Skills have a separate party cooldown, requiring you to make stretegic decisions about when, who, and how to use them. Next, we’ll talk about our intentions for the newly added Origin skills and Mastery Cores.įirst of all, Origin Skills were designed to make combat in MapleStory more varied, especially in boss fights. ![]() In terms of the skill’s numerical values, they will be adjusted once in the next test world when the Enhancement Cores and Stat Cores are added, and they will continue to be changed up until the update is released in the official server.
